Steve Skyler

Born in Reading, PA (the spot on the Monopoly board they call "reeding" but is actually "redding"), Steve started singing in the Indiana church where he grew up. This was quite distracting to the minister during his sermons so he was thrown out (pause for laugh track).

While a college drama major, he worked in radio a bit which led to renewed interest in music. Steve then took vocal classes while touring the Detroit club scene with a friend's band, soon making the "Trek" to LA, boldly going where billions have gone before!!!

Since then Steve has been in various projects, including one with former members of Lita Ford's touring band. With intense, driving passion, Steve seeks to display his great desire in his performance, songwriting and stage. Steve is very committed (or at least should be for the common good) and is very responsible (whenever the outcome equals success!).

Steve met up with Paul in the late-eighties when Paul was seeking a singer for what later became Inside Out. Steve fit the bill perfectly with his own introspective lyric writing adding the perfect mix to Paul's own in your face commercial musical hooks! After Paul left Inside Out Steve got together with other, like-minded creative musicians to form the nostalgia act "The Groove" which is a tribute to Rock standards from the 50's, 60's and 70's and performs regularly in and around the Los Angeles area. Still, Steve believed enough in Paul's music to make the trek to Paul's new recording facility in St. Louis, MO in 2003 and record the vocal tracks for Guilty Pleasure first release "Busted" and again in 2005 for the yet un-named sophomore release.

Steve Skyler's Beatle's influence adds melody to harder-edged rock, making a power combo not heard for some time. He feels this music has something for everyone, particularly hard rock lovers long neglected by the industry (rockers who have most of the loot and wouldn't hassle with downloading--just a thought). Other influences include The Stones, The Who, Cheap Trick, Hendrix, Blink 182, Sugar Ray, Rod Stewart, basically good, soulful melody with an edge that is catchy, has a feel, and makes people want to turn it up and move a bit. As for Lyrics, poetic yet relatable, but a bit beyond the simpleton 80's fare.

Steve doesn't necessarily have any favorite brand of gear other than that which is on sale, given to him or found in an alley. In addition, Steve has very strong religious beliefs that mentioning any such gear by name need be precluded by a check with at least four digits! Steve can be reached by email by companies for any such engagements.,...not limited to only music companies!!!
