Paul Alfery

Paul Alfery hails from Southern California. Like many took to guitar and all the perks that came with it as a teenager. As Paul's skills progressed he began writing and later formed his own original band. Like many bands, this one went through it's share of members far too numerous to document (and we are too damn old to remember em all!). Paul was heavily influenced by Michael Schenker and UFO and when the 80s rang in with big hair bands he took his roots and melded them with the popular songwriting influences of bands like Black N Blue, Bon Jovi, Autograph, ect to create his own unique brand of material! His alliance with Steve took place when Paul was working to reform and replace members of his original band "Suite 17". After the band rounded out it's member roster, they later became Inside Out. Several years later the old band illness known as "creative differences" divided the project and that, coupled with a market that was no longer intelligent enough to respect the type of writing Paul did, paved the way for Paul's decision to exit the band to pursue other career options and spend more time with his family.

Later, Paul decided to embark on recording his solo material and built his own recording studio. He also expanded his talents to include keyboards and bass as well as programming. To complete the picture for Paul he enlisted the vocal talents of his former Inside Out lead vocalist Steve Skyler and the rest, well the proof is on the CD!!! I would say Guilty Pleasure seamlessly incorporates elements of Cheap Trick (that being heavy guitars with rockin' melodies), Aerosmith, Van Halen, Danger Danger, Mr. Big, and Firehouse yet without cloning any one band in particular.

Paul Alfery's masterful, powerful, memorably tasteful and gifted leads truly bring Guilty Pleasure music to life. His ability to write a catchy riff is the backbone of what you hear on the CD. Paul knows his way around the fret board as well as the recording studio, producing a sound that, for the first time, gives these songs the showcase they deserve. You are drawn in by the leads as much as you are the songs and vocals. The Alfery-Skyler songwriting team has never sounded more dynamic and alive. Paul also brings great bass lines and keyboard backings to the table.

The final silent partner that made all this possible is the wonderful technology provided by the good folks at Roland Corporation! A huge personal THANK YOU from Paul himself for without the fine tools made available by Roland, this CD would not have been possible!
